UK’s Former Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks Releases Animated Video to Equip Jewish Students With Tools to Counter ‘Vicious’ BDS Activity on Campus

An animated video written and narrated by Britain’s former chief rabbi — to arm students with the tools to confront hostility on campus — was released Monday, at the height of “Israeli Apartheid Week” activities at universities across the world.

Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks said in a statement that the content of the six-minute clip debunks the “dangerously wrong” claims of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, by highlighting that its purpose is actually “to delegitimize Israel as a prelude to its elimination.”

“The Jewish people’s fight against BDS is a serious challenge. We need to utilize every resource possible in defense of the state of Israel, making our arguments in increasingly innovative and creative ways in order to capture the widest attention,” Sacks said. “This includes battling the vicious hatred of Israel that occurs online.”

US Official: Trump Administration Contemplates Leaving ‘Israel-Obsessed’ UN Human Rights Council

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is reviewing its participation in the U.N. Human Rights Council, seeking reform of its agenda...

In the video, Sacks says he “supports the right of Palestinians to a state of their own and the right of Palestinian children to a future of dignity and hope.” However, he adds, “The BDS campaign will achieve neither of these things.”

Israeli Apartheid Week is an annual series of events held throughout February and March every year, with programming that includes mock checkpoints and calls for divestment and boycott campaigns. Members of leading advocacy groups in the UK recently told The Algemeiner that they were gearing up to “proactively” counter these events.

Facebook’s new video app hits Samsung Smart TVs

Facebook’s new video app is now available on Samsung Smart TVs – which makes Samsung the first platform to feature the social network’s latest application. Facebook had announced earlier this month that it was soon releasing a video app aimed at connected TVs and other media players, like Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, but didn’t unveil a specific launch date for any of those platforms.

According to Samsung, the Facebook video app for TV is now available on Samsung Smart TVs, including its 2017 QLED TV lineup and all of its 2015, 2016, 2017 Smart TV models. Samsung is the only TV manufacturer that’s supporting the Facebook app at launch, the company also notes.

The app itself allows users to sign into their own Facebook accounts, then view the videos shared by friends or Pages they follow, as well as top videos and others recommended to them based on their interests.

You only have to authenticate with Facebook one time – after installing the app and launching it for the first time, says Samsung.

News of Facebook’s app for the TV’s big screen was originally detailed by Facebook’s VP of Partnerships Dan Rose at the CODE Media conference. The move represents Facebook’s attempt to better compete with video-sharing rival YouTube as a place where creators want to upload and share their work, as well as place where those videos can be more easily discoverable.

The company also said at the time that videos in the News Feed would now play with the sound on, unless your device was set to silent. And the company said that it would no longer crop vertical video, to better compete with Snapchat. A picture-in-picture mode was introduced, as well, allowing you to watch a video by pulling it out to the side of your feed, as you continued to scroll.

More recently, Facebook announced it would test ads in the middle of videos – something that could help publishers make more money from their Facebook videos. This is an area where Facebook is still challenged, as compared with YouTube.

Your Video Creation, Editing, and Marketing Guide for 2017

Shooting videos with a smartphone camera and uploading on YouTube are passé. The new darling of the digital marketing world, “video marketing” is a preferred brand marketing and exposure strategy for higher engagement and brand recall factor. We’re living in the generation of YouTubers and Instagramers, creating influencers that brands aspire to hire.

Let’s look at some statistics. Tweets with videos and photos get a higher number of retweets (source). Further, data from Syndacast study says there is a 19% increase in email open rates when the word “video” is in the subject line. Interestingly, in 2017, 74% of the Internet traffic will be video!

As such, video creators and marketers need to have awesome tools in their arsenal to create awesome videos for personal branding and brand outreach. In this list, I have listed six video creation and editing tools for you to explore.
#1 Renderforest

An interactive online video production platform, Renderforest helps to create videos for both personal and business use, free of cost. You can create and export an infinite number of quality videos and directly share them on social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram.

Renderforest is suitable for both individuals and businesspeople. Individual users can get a variety of custom solutions for blog animations, photo and wedding slideshows, educational videos, and video invitations. For entrepreneurs, it provides easy-to-use options, such as business presentations, events invitations, promotional videos, kinetic typography, explainer videos, testimonials and more. There are hundreds of customizable templates to choose from that range from promotional templates to logo animation templates to slideshows and much more. You can also upload and edit your high-quality photos, music, and voiceovers absolutely for free.
#2 Nutshell

Want to turn boring slide decks into cool animated presentations? Nutshell, an iOS app from the creators of Prezi, is the answer to your prayers to jazz up your images. It works on a simple mechanism: snap three photos in succession, overlay them and add text, graphics, and animated components. And hey presto! What you get are not static images of individual photos, but a mini-movie that is divided into three distinct scenes with some neat visual extras.

To get the three scenes, all you need to do is to point and shoot subject number 1, then subject number 2 and lastly subject number 3. Now, add captions or animations to each one of them. Nutshell offers a choice of 3 caption styles and numerous animated graphics that include lightning bolts, starbursts, swirling musical notes and, for an inexplicable reason, about a dozen different animated potatoes! You also get the option of dragging and dropping these animated graphics anywhere on your scene. Once you have saved your creativity, you are at liberty to share it on the social media or through email or text.

How to Shoot a 360 Video

Unlike traditional video cameras, which capture whatever is happening in front of them, 360 cameras capture everything happening in every direction, offering a full spherical view of the surroundings.
Get the Right Camera

Each of these all-seeing mechanical eyes is different. The best ones are truly omnidirectional—meaning they capture their full surroundings instead of a truncated portion of the scene. The most convenient cameras also produce videos that can be edited and shared with simple software tools and don’t require any laborious stitching or post-processing. For the purposes of this article, we’ll look at the cameras that hit those points: 360 degrees of capture with an easy path to editing and sharing.

Some of the best are the Ricoh Theta, Nikon’s Keymission 360, Samsung’s Gear 360, and Kodak’s Pix Pro Dual Pack. All of these cameras use two fisheye lenses pointed in opposite directions. The images from these two lenses are stitched together by the software that comes with the camera to give you a truly spherical video. There are other cameras, like the 360Fly, which use one ultra-wide-angle lens, that don’t offer a full spherical view. You can apply some of the advice in this article to using those types of cameras as well, you’ll just get different results.
Take a Stand

These cameras capture everything—including the tripod you’re using to prop it up. So, you’ll need a tripod without any adjustment arms that stick out into the shot. Travel tripods are ideal for this. They typically have a ball head that’s adjusted with a knob instead of an arm. Also, they’re lightweight and fold up into themselves. Since these 360 cameras lack a carrying strap and are a lot smaller than DSLRs, you can just walk around with the camera mounted on the tripod. It’s much more convenient.

One video editing app everyone needs

When you scroll back through your camera roll, what do you see? For me, it's a plethora of videos and photos of my two dogs, but for you, it could be anything. Kids, grandkids, family members, trips and hobbies; our smartphones make it so easy to capture all of life's best moments. The only problem is that most of those videos and photos are destined to collect virtual dust, stored in the alcoves of our devices.

Creative types, and those who are well versed with video editing software, often turn their photos and videos into collages and stories. I don't have the patience for all of the trimming, filtering and sound-effect layering that's required to put a quick movie together.

Recently, I discovered an app that makes it easy for amateurs like me to create movies that look like they were made by professionals. It's called Magisto Video Editor & Movie Maker, and it uses videos and photos you have on your phone to automatically create "video stories."

Using the Magisto app is simple. You'll need to create an account, but after that, you can begin making videos. On the app's home page you'll find a + sign at the bottom of the screen. Tap that then, "Make a new movie."

Disrupting the Big Boys with One-Stop Video Editing

My partner and I were working on putting together ‘explainer’ videos for two companies that we work with. An explainer video is usually between 60-90 seconds long and using images and cartoon–type characters briefly explains the company’s operations, philosophy or business model. In todays’ complex tech environment these have popped up on many websites.

My partner has used outsourced ‘agencies’ in the past and told me they can be produced for around $350 each versus the $1500+ in Vancouver (certainly a local agency charges at least an order of magnitude more). I’ve used offshore creative agencies to do work for me in the past. The work is always unbelievably cheap and the turnaround is appealing because if you’re using India or China there’s a 12-13 time shift. I give them a job near the end of my workday and it’s ready by the next morning – ideal! I’d also say the work is often of reasonable quality if your supplier speaks English very well.

I opted to hire a new offshore producer in Pakistan to do my two explainer videos at a total cost of $175 CDN. What a deal!

The problem I’ve found is that they don’t always understand everything you say, and even with the best-written instructions jobs just don’t make the grade. I had hired a Chinese freelancer to tweak a logo redesign for $15. "Astounding!" you might say, but it’s not what I wanted. They all say they are happy to redo the work and they will do so enthusiastically, but in the end, the task cannot compare to what I can get from an established agency in metro Vancouver who understands not only what I need but also what I don’t even know that I need.

Back to my ‘Made in Pakistan’ video production, the graphics were awesome, but I didn’t get the western flavor I needed. They did have a choice of narrators, and I had a sample voice to choose from. I got them very cheaply, but the process was so arduous that I didn’t send them back for an edit, I just accepted them as is and moved on. Every time my forgiving client plays them, I will forever think how the videos could have been better. My client thought they were ok, but I was disappointed.

Collect app brings 360 video editing to Android

Keymissions and Instas and Thetas, oh my! There are literally dozens of affordable, autostitching camera options out there right now that are making 360 on the go a reality.

Until recently, the ability to pair these devices with your smartphone meant little more than the ability to adjust your camera’s settings, preview your shots and remotely record. Although all the cameras’ apps come with a handful of editing tools (usually select playback view, trim and filters), there hasn’t been an easy way to combine multiple clips into one video on your phone, on the go—yet.

With Collect, a free 360 video editing app, users can skip the computer and edit 360 videos directly from their Android devices (iOS TBD).

The app allows users to combine, trim and rearrange multiple 360 clips into one video, as well as add filters and effects, including speed adjustment.

It even supports videos with resolutions up to 4K, depending on the user’s phone, and there’s no maximum video length, beyond your phone’s storage space.

The app also allows users to reset the 360 center to select the first direction the viewer will look for each clip, select music for their video from the app’s royalty-free music library, and share directly to YouTube and Facebook—all within a very user-friendly interface.

Editing Cutaways – A Short Video Tutorial

Editing quickly is not, in itself, a measure of professionalism. However, being efficient allows you to rapidly rough out ideas, increasing your chances of crafting the best story. In this tutorial, I want to show you a simple technique for editing cutaways into your timeline – a technique that will speed up your editing and ultimately allow you more time for finessing.

3-Point Editing

The most common technique for editing cutaways is simply dragging a suitable piece of b-roll down on to the timeline, and then moving it and trimming it until it looks about right. Wouldn’t it be better, though, if you thought about where you wanted the cutaway to happen, how long you wanted it to last, what specific part of the b-roll content you wanted to show, and placed it in the timeline, all in one smooth operation? 3-point editing allows you to do exactly that!

Firstly, place your playhead in the timeline where you want to cut away from your main sequence. Press ‘I’ to add an in-point to your sequence, and then play through to where you want to cut back from your cutaway, pressing ‘O’ to mark an out-point on that frame. Next, go to your source material and find the frame in your b-roll where the thing you want to show your audience starts – press ‘I’ to mark it.

How to Get Started with Video Content Without Spending a Penny

Video content is some of the most engaging, innovative, and results-driving marketing material an organization can create. American adults watch about 5.5 hours of video content every day. Brands that can capture a portion of that time can viscerally connect with their audience, earn consumer favor, and drive sales.

On-demand content, mobile viewing, and live streaming have already exploded. New video technology like VR and 360 degree video and will more offer innovative organizations even more ways to connect with current and potential customers.

Traditionally, technological and skill requirements created a high barrier to entry for video content. That drove up costs and turned many organizations off the medium.

But now video is more accessible than ever, and it’s worth any marketing department’s time to experiment with it. If you haven’t already, give it a shot–you may find that it’s a huge unexplored opportunity worth investing further into. And if you’ve previously been paying an agency huge fees for video content, you could find that you can trim them out and use those funds elsewhere.

If you want to adopt video content into your marketing strategy, here’s how you can get started—without committing to a huge budget.

If you’ve purchased a smartphone at any point in the last few years, it almost inevitably has a camera of viable quality. It might not be amazing–but it’s good enough to get the job done if the contents of the video are good enough.

The quality of your content reflects the quality of your brand. So it’s understandable why some marketers would be hesitant to publish anything less than pristine audio and video. But as long as your video is entertaining, informative, or immediate valuable, then people will forgive you if you’re not able to serve a high definition stream. Once you identify a demand, you can make some economical investments into better microphones and cameras in the future.

Bonus Tip: Lighting alone can make the difference between mediocre looking video and a great visual component that stands out. This is true whether you’re wielding a lower-end Android that’s a few years old or a cutting edge recording device for professionals. Watch a tutorial or two on lighting for video. In general, more light is better than less–and natural sunlight rarely looks bad.

Radio Stations Grow Their Video Ambitions

Radio broadcasters across the country are placing more emphasis on live and recorded video, in part to gain traction with their social media platforms.

Experts say webcams and digital video recorders are now common gear for radio broadcasters as they launch additional multimedia channels. Some radio stations are now training personnel as videographers and purchasing programs like Sony Vegas Pro, Final Cut Pro, MediaShout, Logic Pro and ProPresenter to edit video.

Radio stations also are developing video marketing strategies and campaigns for advertising clients in an effort to monetize video products and services.

Here are several examples of radio broadcasters embracing video as a means to expand their listener base:

VIDEO IN EVERY FIBER

Public broadcaster KEXP(FM) in Seattle has found many ways to incorporate video into nearly every fiber of the alternative and indie music radio station.

KEXP video is everywhere on social media from Facebook and YouTube to Instagram and Vimeo. Its new state-of-the-art live performance studio, which opened in 2016, is tricked out with first-class video production facilities so performances by visiting bands can be captured live and later uploaded to YouTube.

Jim Beckmann, online content manager and senior video producer, says he is amazed at the level of the station’s in-house video distribution.

Does Snapchat Have A Place In The Crowded Digital Video Space?

There’s a lot of hype around Snap Inc., parent company of Snapchat, and its upcoming IPO. The company has valued itself at $25 billion and reportedly plans to sell $3 billion of non-voting shares. Snapchat’s biggest draw is that it appeals to a young generation that craves immediacy and novelty. Users can easily send photos or videos that ostensibly disappear not long after the recipient views them. Snapchat’s 158 million active users, many of them under 25, send more than 2.5 billion snaps per day.

But in the long run, as with all social media companies, Snap will have to evolve to remain relevant. The largest social media sites – Facebook, Twitter – all have their eye on a strategy that involves video content. Can Snap become a major player in this game, with a sustainable competitive position? Possibly, given Snapchat's unique user experience and captive, young user base. But it will have to fight hard to establish its position in an increasingly crowded digital video marketplace.

Snapchat's differentiators

I think Snapchat has a shot because of its unique tools for user-generated video. Snap recognizes that its users crave novelty. In addition to its photo and video decorating tools like emojis, bitmojis (personalized emojis), and stickers, it cleverly created the following revenue-generating tools to embellish snaps:

Sponsored Lenses:  Allows users to add graphics and animation to their photos. According to Adweek, after Taco Bell created a sponsored lens for Cinco de Mayo that let users turn their head into a taco, the lens received 224 million views in one day. The Financial Times estimated that the advertiser cost for Sponsored Lenses ranges from $450,000 or more on a “nonpeak day” to $750,000 for a tie-in to a holiday or event.
Geofilters: Tag a city or event, like San Francisco, with special graphics.
Spectacles: The wearer can capture and share circular video that mirrors the experience of the eyeball. Through Spectacles, users can share video directly with their networks more quickly than recording and sharing video.
Discover: Special editions for mobile video of TV shows such as The Bachelor and The Voice, and other content.

Another advantage for Snapchat is that its experience is more like how we watch TV, compared to other social media sites. As the Wall Street Journal recently noted, “Once your network is sufficiently big, viewing stories can feel like the 'lean back' experience of watching television, as opposed to the 'lean forward' experience of engaging on social media... It’s reality TV, starring people you know.”

How to convert a video to MP4

If a video won't play on your TV, phone or another device, you might need to change its format. Here's how to convert a video to MP4 (or another format). Plus, we explain everything you need to know about video codecs, containers, bitrate and more

Unlike digital photos, which are predominantly in JPEG format, there isn't a single common standard for videos. However, virtually everything - including smartphones and tablets - can play MP4 videos, and this is currently the most common format.

If you have a video, perhaps from your camcorder, digital camera or something you downloaded, that's not compatible with your phone, tablet or TV, here's how to convert that video to MP4.
How to convert a video to MP4 and other formats

Changing a video's format is easy with the right software. Fortunately, there are plenty of free apps which will do this for you. Some are easier to use than others, and some have more features such as cutting out sections, dealing with multiple audio tracks (for different languages, say) and subtitles.

To keep things simple, most allow you to choose your device, such as an iPhone, rather than asking you to pick the correct settings. However, the MP4 format is a safe choice for practically all modern devices because iPhones, Android phones and TVs will play MP4s.

It seems Apple is generously helping out the education sector in some form. The tech company is now offering a massive audio and video editing software deal that is going to be available for students and teachers only.

The bundle includes Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4 and Mainstage 3, all for good $199. The offer sounds amazing considering how the applications are considered pretty advanced aside from being expensive. To put some perspective, Logic X Pro is typically sold for $199 while Final Cut Pro X is priced at $299. The price of all five applications combined would be more than $500.

Final Cut Pro X is a video editing software while Motion allows creatives to make graphic transitions and 2D and 3D titles. Apple's Compressor is described as a simple interface that works with Final Cut Pro in video conversions, allowing users to quickly customize output settings. Logic Pro X, on the other hand, works as an audio editing software, especially for music production. Mainstage is Apple's music app that is designed for live performances.

The deal can be availed by anyone who can verify that they are eligible college students through UNiDAYS. University educators can also avail the exciting bundle. The K-12 sector can also apparently get the offer. This allows educators to teach professional editing to students at an early age.

Individuals who are interested in Apple's offer and eligible for the offer can head over to their official website then choose the specific deal. After making the purchase, an email from Apple will be sent along with the code to get the advanced editing applications found in the Mac App Store.

As an increasing number of people have access to mobile phones with the continuously developing camera quality, creating videos and sharing it with others has never been easier without professional equipment or budget requirements. These facts coupled with the notion of virality and instant fame from a single video have enticed many people to start capturing videos while developers have released the tools necessary to enhance them.

To deviate from the traditional requirements of expensive equipment, professional software, and formal education to successfully edit videos, EZVid is best recognized as a combination of technology, creativity, and ease of use for the everyday user. Through employing quick editing tools, filters, and several other effects, the process of personalizing videos has been democratized so that even those less technically inclined are able to edit their content. This simplicity in function can also be applied to adding music from the library, speed adjustments, brightness adjustments, and even adding texts with various colors and fonts.

So you think you know video?

By 2020, Cisco says 82 percent of global internet traffic will be video. In APAC, online video revenue is set to grow 22 percent annually, from US$13 billion in 2006 to $35 billion by 2021, according to a Media Partners Asia report.

We’ve heard the statistics. Video is stealing King Content’s crown for itself. Of course, most brands have video strategies in place, often in tandem with agencies or consultants. Yet many continue to make rookie mistakes and hold misconceptions about what digital videos should look like.

Campaign Asia-Pacific caught up with Chimney Group’s CEO Michal Kalinowski and APAC managing director Timo Josten. Their video-production business employs 400 people in 12 countries who make “any kind of content that moves”, from feature films to TV dramas to digital advertising. In APAC, they have shops in Sydney and Singapore. They work with brands including Hyundai, Mazda, Sony and Asics.

Here, derived from our conversation, are five dos and don'ts for branded-video campaigns.

1. Grab viewer attention immediately Most will be familiar with this rule by now. But surprisingly, many online videos still begin with static logos or slow-moving opening animations. “You really need to make sure the video is capturing attention and emotion in the first second of playout,” says Kalinowski.

2. Don’t wait to introduce your brand Once you have the audience watching, don’t wait until the end of the video to get them to engage with your brand. A lot of the traditional agencies and creatives think of TV-type delivery, where you have a payout at the end, says Kalinowski. The problem is that no matter how engaging the content is, a portion of viewers will always drop off before the end, and your opportunity is lost.

Mentioned below are 5 best video downloading websites that help you grab any video by feeding its URL to the website. Take a look!

VideoGrabber is one of the most used online video downloading tools. Revamped over the time, this website takes the video URL as an input and provides you with an option of downloading the video in different file formats and resolution.
